Hailing from Germany, Etienne displays enormous passion for our beloved pastime, which really reflects the Fortis ethos of exploring the great outdoors. Fishing is my life, being out there enjoying nature and living the adventure. Carp fishing is, for me, enormously important, there is only one thing that I hold dearer to my heart and that is my family. My wife Janine and my son Maximilian![toggle_basic title=”Read More”]\n
I started fishing when I was a small boy back in 1981. I directly felt the relationship with mother nature and the creatures it inhabits. Very quickly, I came across a very special fish, the Carp! I begun building admiration for them and started to chase them from that moment onwards. They have been in my head ever since, down to this very moment.<\/p>\n
In more recent years I have been targeting bigger Carp in the massive gin clear low stock lakes near the River Rhine where I live. It is, and was, hard work. You need to take all tricks out of the box for these shy fish. NEVER underestimate what fish can see, hear and feel!<\/p>\n
I learned observing them and being a part of the environment is the key! I have been rewarded with many huge and unique fish for all the efforts I had to put in. But I rarely speak about the weight of the fish. I rather speak, write and photograph the experiences and situations that I came across on my journey. The experience counts…
