WHAT IS ACETATE?

Cellulose acetate is a plant-based material derived from wood fibres and natural
cotton. It is lightweight, hypoallergenic and capable of producing deep,
translucent colours and refined finishes that standard plastics cannot match.

Unlike petroleum-based plastics, acetate is made from renewable materials. Each
Hawkbill frame is formed from layered acetate blocks, carefully sliced, hand-polished
and assembled before being quality checked in the UK.
